The Leopard and the Cow
A farmer put out a camera because he heard dogs barking every night at something that seemed to be happening in his neighbor's pasture. Watching the replay the next morning and through the next week, he saw this occurred each evening:
The leopard comes every night to meet the cow and the cow licks the leopard's head. The farmer was stunned. After all, the world he thought he lived in was one in which leopards ravaged cows and devoured them.
That afternoon the farmer spoke with the owner of the cow and found out that the leopard's mother had died when it was only twenty days old and that one week later the cow's owner discovered the orphaned baby leopard in his pasture -- his cow was reclined and feeding the leopard with her milk. The leopard thinks that the cow is her mother and still to this day comes every night to see the old cow and be caressed and comforted by her in this way.
Sometimes the kind of world we think we live in - full of its expectations about who we should get along with and who we should not - is an unfortunate assumption we've been led to carry in our hearts and minds.
