My Mom,
Rubie Mae Machu,
feet kicking
and tickled pink!
For 33 years of her life she would make infants similar to herself pictured here - also tickled pink. Mom knew how to make others happy and laugh. Mom was an amazing babysitter.
But before her career as a daycare provider, before delivering her own two sons, before there was the man she married, Les,
there was Rubie the class clown in the Class of '59 at Granger High School.
Do you think as she stood by the window (far left) in this 1959 GHS Homemaking class photo -- where a proper method of bathing an infant was being demonstrated -- she thought to herself,
"I better pay particular attention to this, might need to know how to do this one day...." ??
Mom's sister Marie Ann (right) was one year younger and a class year behind Mom at GHS.
Yet, she figures prominently in many of Mom's classmates' group shots as you'll see below.

In Mom's stack of school days photos was a clipped set all of Melvin Wentrcek, his school pic from almost each grade, and each with a sweet message to Rubie on the back.
