36th Annual Loessin Family Reunion

My Aunt Angie rode with me to the annual gathering of the Loessin clan in Fayette County. She made her delicious pecan pies and I brought a sliced spicy pork loin over a bed of rice and my tangy cucumber salad. The feta cheese crumbles are the best part of this salad as well as the Caesar Cardini's brand Light Greek Vinaigrette I get at the HEB.

This year's invitation solicited the bringing of artifacts so I brought out a table full of items telling the story of our own Loessin family in Williamson County who are getting ready to celebrate our centennial in Circleville.

Among the items I brought included: great-grandma Martha Templin Loessin's old sewing machine and silver hand mirror, memorabilia from our family's former cotton gin business, my grandpa and great-grandfather's old fraternal lodge ribbons and pins from 1900, 1908, and 1910 state political conventions, grandpa's 1890 pocket watch, old photos, and an excerpt from the family history narrative
I'm working on.
I distributed at the reunion:

It was a happy day seeing so many kinfolk I seldom see, but bittersweet as well not having Mom and Dad there with us.  They asked for a full report when I visited them the following week and were happy I shared a little of our immediate family's history in Williamson County.
